first week

So Im already into the second week of production and I feel like it has been a month already. I did not think that I would miss LA that much but I do, maybe my friends but I miss being able to drive myself or do things in my own time and schedule... but it has been fun and productive. I have learned a lot just by watching everyone work specially David F., To watch someone that good concentrate and know how his movie will end up looking is amazing, how he lines up shots and does things previsualizing it in the editing room and in the theaters.

This first week a a half has been amazing, a lot of hard work qveraging 14 hour days and shooting at night. but it is cool.. I am greatful for this apportunity and hopefully it will keep on going this good. I will post some pics when I get a chance, and will keep posting updates on how the production is going so far, including BPitt who is a now show so far till thanksgiving.

So its been a long long time since i have written anything on this dam blog.. so I decided to break that cycle. I have actually been really busy here at The camera house. everythign going well. Im excited that Im going to go in Nov to New Orleans for 4 months to shoot David Finchers new movie with Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett... really looking forward to that.

what else?? well nothing much really i just have been too busy to keep up with my reaguler life.. ohh I know ive been trying to learn to surf but thats not going too well.. I will learn i know i will but havent had time to practice so im not getting as good as i want..

well ill try to write more while im working on the movie!

So yesterday, Andy and I went to this Active skate shop and the Stereo Skate team was signing autographs... Jason Lee was there, hes actually pretty tall but super chill and cool... I did not even know he skate till yesterday but it was awsome.. not too busy like i tought it would be but i guess not many people know he skates or at least the people who watch My Name is Earl, i think.. well here is the picture with Chris Pastras and the poster which is hilarious..

so my buddies two of my three friends here in LA are leaving! :'( soo sad...
these are my friends from SCAD who did all the crazy extreme sport stuff with me.. they were fun and crazy and ill miss hanging out with them and going on alcohol based camping trips and hikes, snowboarding, skateboarding, playing psp drinking games, playing darts, having BBQ's.. they were fun... i cant believe i only have one close friend in LAnow.. it sucks! its soo hard to meet and have close friends here in a new place.. I know ive been here for a yer now and still no close friends but its not the same... you are not with people like all the time and work people are still work people so its not the same.. ohh well here are some pics of the great goodbye party we had on friday! i'll miss you guys!

so today i was in the hands of angels! i swear! i almost DIED!!!!! it was the worst feeling ever! i was soo nervous and scared it was horrible but thank god im OK now. I was on the freeway and a guy wanted to come to my lane but he did not see me and almost crashed into me, so I tried to avoid him but turned the wheel too hard and then tried to avoid the car on the other side and turned the wheel again but by this time the car was swirling and skidding out of control and i made two 360 turns in the middle of the highway!!!!! it was sooo scary and then the car stopped and when i looked the traffic was coming towards me! all the cars stopped but i was soo lucky that none of them hit me!!! Oh MY God i swear it was horrible and it was so nerve wracking! i am soo lucky i got out with out a scratch on me or on the car or nothing! WOW!! really a city of angels.. the angels were guarding me!

well that is the meaning of what happened to me yesterday... i went off of a jump and landed on my shoulder thus dislocating it and let me tell you it HURT sooo much. never felt this pain before.. but it was fun.. a good story to tell at least i got hurt doing something cool... i got to ride in an ambulace to the hospital which was a pretty awkward experience.. it was all surreal. i felt like i was in a tv show or movie scene a soon as got into the ambulace then got to the ER and it was weird.. the doctor coming in with the interns and stuff and shiwing them how to pop the shoulder back in place.. soo weird... but i was soo dozed off with abou 4 morphine injections but it was painful.

saw the x-rays today and the before and after shots were pretty amazing.. you could see the bone really out of place. it was pretty horrible and now i understand why it hurt soo freaking much.. horrible.. hope it never happens to you or me again.. nw im immobilized for 2 weeks and cant excercise let alone snowboard for 6 weeks!!!! SUCKS!

No, not what you think, but it was my first time jumping off ramps... I went to the mountains again yesterday with some friends and they are experts and try all the jumps and stuff.. so me... the one who does not like to feel left behind started to do jumps too.. tried some and it was fun! soo scared but i landed a few... i have to try to get some moe air though.. my knees are killing me now but its all for fun... here are some pics of my sort-of-amature-jumps.

Well today I arrived to El Salvador to get my visa, my dad took me to look at the new pocket bikes that he is selling but when we got there, I saw that they had closed this street and there were quarter of a mile car races going on it was soo funy i thought, there was a whole campaign going on, with the republican party (ARENA) flags everywhere.. and I thought to myself, isnt this funny? the government republican party is hosting this car race event, yet it is illegal to race... wow.. how things change to get you vote.... ohh good politics...

Sp I got a Promotion which I am pretty excited about.. i went from a stupid shipping and recieving employee to a service technitian... I am happy just cause htey will teach me all the ins and out of the cameras and how to service them. How every part works and how to fix the problems which will come in handy when im out in the fild and shooting... Its soo complicated but its cool.. at least im learning every day.. can get monotonous after servicing a lot of cameras they say but i will bail and got to the field before that happens.. or who can say maybe like servicing.. well see...ok thats alli had to say.. next time I will be a tech savy camera person.. and will be able to fix anything! hahaha!

So i went snowboarding again!!! im soo adicted to it! i cant believe it! it is sooo much fun! mt. high it awwsome the slopes are soo great to learn in its great! did not take my camera this time but next time ill go and take pics its pretty cool! the snow was relly nice and soft. which is always good. Now i have improved im am glad to say i can turns around and stop with both front and back sides of the board which is awsome! i love it! anyone wanna come?! lets go!

Man today was soo freaking awsome!!!! today was wayyy better than yesterday by far.. i now can go down the slope without falling down once!!! yeah! i dont go very fast but at least I can go without hurting myself like yesterday. Its a great improvement I tell you, yestedrday i had a hard time even getting up after i had fallen and at the top of the lift i would always fall down but now I dont! yeah! next tim Ill conquer the intermediate slopes! hahahaha

So today i went to Big bear mountain ski resort and it was fun! let me tell you, Snow+mountain+viki=FALLING DOWN CONSTANTLY! I sent all of the time at the beginners slope of course and most of the time I was on my ass or on my way there! but i think im getting better... at least now i dont fall down everytime i get off the stupid lift! i was soo afraid of that lift but im good now... tomorrow im gonna go again and hopefully do much better... i have to conquer the beginners slope before i go on another one.. or it will take me hours just to get down the other run! but its fun!!!! i wish it were cheaper! but what can you do.. its not like you can snowboard anywhere here in California..

By the way here's a thought.. lately because of the x-mas season ive been seeing a lot of ornaments in cars! like on the front bumper of grille of the car they put like a big red bow or an ornament that usually goes on doors! COME ON people!! what the hell is that! it looks soo stupid!!! it looks like someone put it there as a prank but nooo YOU did! it is the dumbest thing ever.. is this were pimping is turning into?? jsut drive your freaking car dude! i dont kno if it is only on california but its stupid!

Vegas baby!!

Man, Vegas was soo much fun! it was really nice weather, actually pretty chilli which is nice for Vegas. Did not win any money but oh well you can never win all the time, I had a lot of fun though. Played slots, poker, drank cheap margaritas and became a member of 7 casino players clubs! hehehe... I wet into the Wynn and it was sooo beautiful.. it is soo incredibly nice inside, so high class and I felt i did not belong, all tables were arounf $200 minimum bets and you could see all betters had black chips on their side.. WOW out of my league... the floor was nice though all mosaic and stuff,,, cool!

Got 2 dollars margaritas, then went to a sushi place and had 1 dollar Sake on happy hour, then since we got into so many palyers clubs, we got a whole bunch of cupons which included Beers for 50 cents and free shots! (i had no shots...). For lunch all three days we went to all you can eat buffets and Man, did I eat a lot! i think i am all maxed out on buffets!

Overall it was a lot of fun... i love to go to Vegas! any one up for another trip?! Ill post some pics later

Man I cant wait till Thanksgiving! I going to Vegas Baby!!!! yeah!!! holy poop on a stick! next week better come soon. I have been sooo busy at work, soo many jobs coming in and out including major feature films, like the new David fincher movie and the new Christopher Guest film too! even though i complain and are soo tired its actually pretty cool to be involved in such big productions you know... just a few weeks ago i was on the set of "Chronicles"!, did not bump into downet Jr, or jake gyllenhall but it was still cool to see David Fincher in action! this week I met Guillermo Navarro the DP for "Zathura" so yeah i think im getting to meet people and see big things. I just need this vegas weekend and ill be set! hope I dont loose all my money.

But what else? ohh yeah now I know hoe to make batteries from scratch for the cameras. We were soo busy that we did not have enough batteries for the jobs going out so the guy in charge of all the electrical stuff needed help and now he has toguht me hot to make batteries.. its really cool now i love to help him... sautering chips, and making the whole connections and such.. super interesting.. I think they have ordered 50 batteries for china and since we make our own its cool... our company logo will be on there.

ok well its late and have to wake up tomorrow for another 12 hour day... (thank God for Over time!)

Today one of my boses had a paty for his 2 year old son's bday. it was a halloween party so we had to get dressed. it was fun. For some reason two people asked where my kid was.. and in my mind I was like "NOOO WAY" but what came out was "i dont have one, too young". It made me think do I look old??? hello I was dressed as a sumo wrestler.. of course i dont have a kid!!! WEll my costume i think was pretty cool.. but the main boss dressed up as "holy SHIT" it was funny.. did not get it until he told me what it was.. here are some pics. the boxer is the kid's dad.

So two weeks ago I went hiking and forgot to post some pictures. Went with two of my friends from SCAD i had not seen them in a while... We were going towards the waterfalls in topanga state park but we got lost and we got off trail and it was too late and getting dark quick to go exploring but along the way we found really cool rock formations and a really cool cave which i bet beloings to a lion or something like that, hopefully we missed him cause he would have been really pissed if he found us playing in his bed! hehe here are some pics of us goofing around... these guy will clim any rock they see.. it was cool!

So as Chris says.. if i was in mexico I would have gotten a new Burro, but since I'm in the US I got a new car!!! Yesterday my dad bought me a new Scion xA.. its blue and really pretty.. i love it... it runs! and now i have a radio!! i can listed to music now and AC can actually turn off and does not make weird sounds now! yeahhh.. but i love it...! Now gas wont be as much a problem anymore switching from an SUV (which i still love) to an economy car that does 34 mpg... LOVE THAT!

So I'm at work right now... really chill not much do to after a good hard morning... a rest before they finish prepping and i have to ship all of the equipment. Work has been pretty good I guess.. while the money is not great I get to learn a ton of new stuff, including all the names of every single part of a camera plus their screws. Its interesting I guess but I think it will soo become boring and monotonous when i Learn everything...

This week my supervisor is not here so I guess I have been in charge of all the Shipping and REcieving Department and get to boss around two boys that i have here in the dept who are newer to the company than me. One of them is really hot actually but i have to keep my hands off cause hes only 19 hahaha... just graduated from high school (i was surprised how young that sounded eventhough i just graduated highschool only 3 years ago...guess im gettin old.

Now that i am doing all my supervisors work I think i need a raise.. (yeah right dream on...)

Public Transportation

So, for the first time in Los Angeles I have experienced the wonderful world of public transportation. My car broke down or something about the cooling system broke and had to get it fixed so in order to get to work I had to Get on the Bus. Let me tell you, what a trip..... On car the trip usually takes 20-25 mins but on the wonderful bus system it takes 2 hours! so instead of waking up at 7am i had to wake up at 5:45am! apart from that it was not that bad really, its clean and not a lot of punks like i thought it would be but Chris was telling me that its because the ganstas are probably in compton. But to tell you the truth I'm glad that i got my car back and i can get to my regular schedule and avoid sitting next to a stranger which most likely be an amigo that stinks because he has been busting his ass working two jobs.

this is dedicated to the fine METRO system..... thanks for two wonderful days...

The Camera House

Last week I started, what I believe is the next step in my life. I got a new job at "The Camera House" (www.thecamerahouse.com), I am not freelancing anymore for visa purposes but actually happy with my job. Last week was very physically demanding carrying 50 pound boxes all day but getting aquainted with all the equipment. I am in the shipping and recieving so all the equipment that goes out or comes in will go through me so i have to learn every single part of the camera. The job is a two year program which goes through shipping and recieving then I go up to being a Prep tech and help all the ACs prep their cameras for shooting and then after two years go out to be an AC myself and work my way up to being a DP! hopefully all goes as planned...
Just wanted to update my career life i guess to the few that actually read this (thanks to you) and yeah hope you are all doing well...

Sommer, hope you enjoy the concert.. i wish i were going there again! it was AMAZING!

Waygen, if you still read this hope everything is going well in london and say hi to Sebs.

Chris, keep the mex flowing! and again thanks for the painting.. its awsome to see my natural habitat.....

INCREDIBLE. That is the word that would sum up my experience last night at the verizon amphitheater while enjoying an earful of Coldplay. The concert was Amazing! The 80 dollars i paid was worth it and more. I really was afraid that Chris's comments were gonna come true and it would be a rather boring concert with Chris Martin sitting infront of his piano singing but he is so energetic on stage that makes you feel really good and makes you feel he really enjoys singing. His energy was very contageous and his sense of humor was hilarious as well.. Specially when a girl tossed her bra on stage while he was talking and the first thing he said was: "Holy Shit, a Bra!" he is so damn cute! i LOVE Chris Martin! But... I must say it is the best concert i have ever been to! Worth my money, my time and everything!!!!!!! i wish there were another concert i could go to....

So At last, after waiting for and incredidly long 3 months the day for Coldplay has come! YEAHHHH I cant wait to go to the concert tonight... in a few mins im gonna be heading out to long beach with diana to meet up with Chris and then go on to enjoi our concert that i know will be incredible... hopefully no one will slash their wrists! hehehehe...

on another note for the ones who dont know i just got a new full time job at the Camera House (www.thecamerahouse.com) Im going to be in a two year program that they offer, first year doing shipping and recieving of all the equipment that will allow me to get to know all the gear well, including the new viper HD camera.. the next year i go on to be a prep tech on the floor helping all the camera assistants that come in and prep the equipment before every shot. after tha second year i will know all the AC's and they willl send me out on the field to be a loader or even a 1st AC. So hpefully if all goes as planned ill be in the field in the camera crew in two years.... cross my fingers!

So today me and Chris went to Escondido Falls in Malibu. It was a very short trail but definitely not easy. There was quite a bit of rock climbing involded so it was harder than we thought. It was really rewarding and a lot of fun,a little change of pace and it was more tha just walking so we exercised different muscles than we are used to. At the end Chris decided to jog and trot going back to the parking lot so it was pretty exausting... well here are some pics that I put together so enjoi!

so today like all sundays i went hiking with Chris and we went to eagle rock. ive been there before with diana but just took chris this time.. it is so awsome! i love it it is so peaceful and tranquil, a bit scary as, chris would say but pretty amazing. The view is incredible and we took a few pics and stiched them together. one of them is me on top of the rock, you can hardly see me but look closely and you will see me on the top. the long pic is a 360 view from a nother point nearby and you can see the big rock from a far, you can see the trails, mountains and the incredible view.

enjoy... i will keep looking for new places to hike and new views to photograph...

WEll my entire body is hurting now after a strenuos 6 hour hike yesterday. Diana, Chris and I went to long beach, to "El Moro Canyon" we started at 8:45am and ended at around 3:00pm it was exhausting but then we plunged into the pool wich was really refreshing... After that incredible hike i felt so proud, and as Chris would probably say, I'm getting arrogant , but really i dont think ive ever done this much excersising in my life! it was really rewarding and i hope i keep doing this... Next step is trail running trying to run most parts of the hikes....

It is very impressive to me that we keep on bumping into these really older people around their sixties, hiking and biking and totally beating us too.... there was this old lady on a bike and she was soo impresive did not even seem tired or anything, then this other women yesterday we overheard her saying she just ran 20 miles! WHAT! these people are crazy around here!!! WOW!

but ill post a 360 shot that we took last time at runyon canyon. it is located right smack in the middle of hollywood and its really cool cause you can see the entire city from up there and the view is pretty impressive. Ill stich all the photos so that you can see all of the 360 view laterbut here is a preview.

aquarium/ the queen

so yesterday went tolong beach with my friend chris and we went to the aquarium of the pacific and then went to the queen mary which has been turned into a hotel now. the aquarium ia amazing! it is one of the biggest ones ive seen and they even have otters, seals, sea lions and even a bird cage it is pretty cool. they have the biggest octopus ever pretty cool! i posted a pic of the jellies earlier pretty cool.

we then went to the queen mary ship which was interesting. really cool to see this great big ship which looks like a building and then think that it actually worked at one time and was in the middle of the ocean with thoousands of people before. then at the end of the tour we went on a haunted tour thing which was pretty scary.. its supposed to still be haunted but we went to the boiler rooms and the creepy parts of the ship which was scary but really cool after all...

diana chris and me went hiking last weekend are were gonna go again.. im actually getting really into hiking, i think it is the perfect excersise cause you can enjoy the outdoors, you are exercising every muscle and enjoy the view of LA from really high up in the mountains.. i hope i keep doing it but this weekend were gonna take the trip to the runyon canyon in the middle of hollywood which is pretty famous and well see how it is... people can suposedly see all of LA city from up there i cant wait!

So WOW lots of stuff has happened since I last wrote....

first of all, My entire family from my Dads side came to el salvador and we had this huge reunion, they come from all over the world, from canada to paris to hong kong. so there was no one universal language everyone talked two different languages and so everyone had to translate for each other at all times but it was soo funny it was incredible.. i met cousins that i had never met before, aunts that i had forgotten but it all felt like we knew each pther for all this time.. it was awsome! we went to the beach, had a big B-day bash for out grandmother etc... that was cool.

second after the reunion 11 of us came back to LA and then we drove out to vegas for 3 days! that was INCREDIBLE!!!!! i played on the casino and won freaking 400 bucks on the slot machines! played poker for the first time in a casino and did not loose money it was great! I also went indoor skydiving which was soooo much fun!!!! i also went to watch the BLUE MAN GROUP show and it was soo much fun! it was great! i loved it! so visual as well as audio it was awsome!!!!

after vegas which was fun i had to go to work for four days on this mocumentary independent project it was a lot of fun. i did some camera operating so it was fun! George Segal was acting on it the boss from just shoot me and I met Gary Oldman!!!!!! he is awwwsome!!!!! he made a 15 mins appearance for a cameo and it was great!!!!! he is soo cool man ! i love him! hes such a great talent! greorge segal was also great we had a long talk and he is super nice guy! it was great!

then i went to six flags with my mom and sister and a friend chris and i am a whimp man!!! the rides were like kicking my ass and did not even have the guts to go on like half of the rides! goliath was soo scary for me! that drop was sooo steep (yeah im a whimp) hehehehhe! then yesterday i went to san diego and returned today we went to the zoo today and it was really nice!! tired and long walks but really great i forgot how much i loved zoo's! loved it!

ohh yeah guess who i ran into in san diego while i was walking into the hiatt hotel?????????????? GENE SIMMONDS!!!!! yeah the guy from KISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hahahahaha it was sooo weird he is sooo weird man! i was walking right behind chris and then like he almost bumped into Gene and Gene like wobbled and we got out of his way then we continued walking and he just walked aways! he is suuper tall and like weird! it was creepy but me and chris looked at each other like is that?? yeah it is! we both knew it was him but were soo weirded out by his face and posture and everything it was funny moment!

but yeah today i came back to my house and it has been a very exhausting three weeks! whew! hope you did not sleep thorugh all this hehehehe.. ill post pics of everything later....

So today is my last day... in the office and after this 5 day shoot i am exhausted man!!!... it was pretty tiring under the sun practically all day everyone got sunburned but after all that stuff it was actually pretty fun... Working with a big director means much more toys and cranes and stunts and stuff so it was pretty cool to see al this new equipment.... the commercial is gonna air this july 7th supposedly if everything goes as planne and it will be pretty cool.. people rappeling down the side of the building and jumping out of a bridge etc.... kinda cool.. here are some pics that you might like... i really could not take soo many cause i was actually really busy but here are some of the good ones.. enjoy!

The Rock!

So yesterday me and diana went hiking again.. of course our weekly hike.. this time i was less tired! we hiked for longer cause we wanted to actually get somewhere this time and we decided to take the eagle rock trail whoch would take us to the highest point of the park... it was such a long hike but we made it! when we got the it was wayy cool! it much better i than i thought... the rock was a lot bigger and you can see it with the photo progression! it was super cool though.. were probably gonna go again and maybe have like a small lunch up there hahahha...

well hope you enjoy my pics and enjoy the summer... im trying to be more sporty here trying to get more excersice in me! and like diana said these 2 hours of hike burn about 700 calories! YEAH! hahaha
